"Hey would like some pizza?"
"Uh, sure...what do we have to do?"
"Well we have a survey that we would like you to do. But you can have a piece either way"
"Okay what is it?"
"Can you name ten beers?"
"Hahaha for sure...Budweiser, Miller, Stella, Sam Adams, Coors, Kokanee...."
"Okay, nice work. Now can you name ten commandments?"
"Uhh ya lets see...Thou shall not steal, Thou shall not committ adultery...Thou shall not...Thou shall not...Thou shall not...That's all I can think of."
That is how a team of Christians ministered to the downtown crowd of people last night January 30th. Christina, Emma, Dave and myself went on a sharing mission to tell the truth to people who need it the most.
Jesus says that "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching" John 14:23
In James 1:22 it says "Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says"
To show this true and genuine love that we have for Christ we decided to "GO" and be His messengers and show the people of Bozeman that we love them and we want them to know the truth. I paired with Christina and we had some really deep conversations about spiritual matters. The dialogue is how we approached every crowd of varying degrees of intoxication. Praise the Lord for guiding our conversations from merely ten beers to God and Jesus.
We met a young man from Argentina who refused to go with his friends into the bar just to talk to us about Jesus and what He means to him in his life. He was also standing outside in bitter cold weather in a t-shirt. This was the first person that we talked to. He was searching and I believe had the Holy Spirit sparked in his life. Please pray for our Argentinian friend.
The next few conversations that we had really revealed many truthes about how lost society really is. We were humbled and broken for the man who believed that Jesus is a grown-up's imaginary friend and crutch. I was also able to speak words of truth to a group of very young men who believed in the "mountain spirits". Again I can't stop thinking about the "lostness" of people in my own town.
The culmination of the night came when we stopped to talk our new friend Patrick. He was more than willing to talk to us about spiritual things. To speak to him was almost intimidating because he knew a ton about the bible and had known and believed in God earlier in his life, but now had become an aetheist for no real specific reason. He was a fervent believer in "FAITH" but didn't believe in God. He simply had "faith" that this world was all that existed and that was it. He had faith in faith and nothing at the same time...if that makes sense.
Patrick was a very respectful and searching man that really is in need of prayer. We asked if we could pray for him and was like, "...uh ya...that'd be awesome...just pray that I can find the truth. Thank you" Maybe it was because he was drunk slightly but I thought we had been doing that for the well over an hour that we had been talking to him. Either way please pray for Patrick and his search for truth. I was able to get his phone number and I will be inviting him to cru this week. I am expectant that God will challenge his beliefs and lead his soul back to Him.
I speak the truth........Speaking about God is easier and way more fun than you may think. I am grateful for Christina for inviting me to join her and Emma and Dave to share. She has a heart of gold and loves Jesus a ton....way cool:)
After fervent prayer and following the Holy Spirit in all walks of your life will reward you more than you can imagine. I am smiling from ear to ear and cannot stop thinking about the night. I can't wait to do it again. I just hope it will be a tad warmer and if not I pray i'll be smart enough to wear gloves. hmmm....That was an amzing night of freezing for Jesus....God Bless!
